Music of Foghorns and Seabirds by Natalie Draper | Score | Print License

$10.00

Instrumentation
Oboe (doubling with two tuned wine bottles to Eb3 and E3)
Clarinet in Bb (doubling with one tuned wine bottle to Eb3)
Bass Clarinet in Bb
Alto Saxophone (doubling with one tuned wine bottle to Eb3)
Bassoon (doubling with two tuned wine bottles to Eb3 and E3)

12′

*Note ~ A total of six wine bottles are needed for the entire piece: four tuned to Eb3,
two tuned to E3.

This piece evokes a scene from the ocean—undulating foghorns, shifting boats, and murmurations and chirpings of seabirds. In this sense it a soundscape, very much influenced by impressionism and experimentalism.

Each movement presents a unique scene:
I. In the Distance
II. Murmuration
III. Stillness
IV. Into the Haze.

Music of Foghorns and Seabirds was commissioned for Akropolis by the I-Park Foundation in 2018.
