Meet our nonprofit

Akropolis became a nonprofit organization in 2015, but our ensemble was born in out of a deep commitment to community, education, and creating cultural connections. We are equally proud of the business we’ve built as the art we have created, and we hope you enjoy learning about the mission and organizational impact Akropolis has on both our local Southeast Michigan community and the classical music world.

  • Akropolis Quintet, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by and governing the internationally-acclaimed contemporary music ensemble, the Akropolis Reed Quintet. Our mission is to create a more vibrant society with greater accessibility to contemporary music through our quintet’s artistic excellence utilized in performances, educational workshops, and community engagement.

Strategic Plan

In response to our unique business model and to best conserve resources, Akropolis has produced a Culture and Systems Handbook in place of a Strategic Plan. The Culture and Systems Handbook outlines the systems Akropolis Quintet, Inc. will use to develop strategy, overcome challenges, and act on our mission to be a successful, public-serving nonprofit. It was created in consultation with Bill Booth of Booth Learning.
